2Dress Shop

This IT project was a module in my studies at TU Darmstadt. The project was facilitated by the department of Wirtschaftsinformatik from TU Darmstadt and a well known global player in the aviation industry.
The collaborate partner at the time had a webshop for flight crews which provided various dress options for pilots and flight attendants. However the shop was implemented by an external technology provider and was not very modern looking nor cheaply expandable. Our project first consisted of collecting options on how to implement a better system, whereby the options were a completelly new implementation as well as established standard solutions like XT:Commerce (formerly OS:Commerce) or Magento webshops. We quickly decided that going with standard software which has good support and expandability was the way to go and implemented a new webshop called 2Dress in XT:Commerce.

XT:Commerce is a PHP based webshop with multiple lifecycle hooks which allowed us to implement a detailled rights management and other custom adaptions in plugin form. XT:commerce also has an ecosystem of various other plugins for example for different payment methods. Regarding the payment method we however had a specific model dictated by the customer which we also had to implement.
After 4 months the project ended with a final presentation at the customer who received our product very well and was astounded at the detail and functionality implemented in such a short time by a group of students. Our hard work also paid off in form of a good grade.
